Folks who have submitted an application will be contacted sometime this week to set up an interview. Those who have not submitted an application and somehow think I'm just going to hire/rehire them are gravely mistaken and will have to wait until the next round of hiring.

Yo. Mind the forum themes. We upgraded the forums to a version not compatible with the themes (yet). Now we know to wait for the theme updates before updating the forum.
As they say, knowing is half the battle.

I can't announce the name until we have a logo and Linus is around to point the domains in the right direction. It will probably be after Thanksgiving until we feel comfortable making an announcement.
And no, this doesn't mean you'll be getting RO for Christmas. Again, the reason the server is down is because of the bugs in the bug tracker, not because of a name change, website, corrupt GM item logs, or any other reason.

I'll just keep checking the forums every so often for updates on it then. I guess I'll just keep my focus on playstation till I hear otherwise about the sever.

I'm doing something about the forum backgrounds now. I have an all white version for the "Hero" theme and and all back for the "Villain" theme if you're like me and use the forums at work.

I changed it though. Is that better?

We will keep the forums the same (barring a name change and maybe new backgrounds) and the CP will remain FluxCP (but not as busy as it is now). The change will be to the [insertcleverservername].com landing page for new players and possibly returning players. Everyone else can proceed with their browsing as per usual. :)

Don't make it a horrible laptop widescreen resolution this time.

Well... we are going industry standard on resolution. Most people's monitors are widescreen as well as their phones. The layout I decided on is responsive though. So it should adapt to non-widescreen monitors just fine.

They are on Merkel's banned player accounts. I know where those are. As soon as I'm confident I have his item logs complete those accounts will be wiped.

Merkel's logs are done. I know who got what. Now it's a matter of finding everyone's spawned gear and removing it. I wish I could leave notes in people's inventories. "Flan was here. I took your [items] as part of a massive recovery effort for the server. If you feel this was a mistake, please submit a support ticket with your character name and a brief summary of how you ended up with these spawned." I guess I could mail people.

I'm anticipating this happening at some point. That happens with a lot of item recoveries. You find an SQI has changed hands 6 times, been upgraded, and cards changed. If that's the case, I'm going to note the item as a "loss" or something similar.
I discussed with Finnian what the best course of action would be regarding these recoveries. In the interest of time, If the item is a non-SQI or non-OP over upped gear I'm going to look for the item on the account listed in the initial trade. If the item is not there, I will take a look on their other accounts. If not there, I will stop the search. If the item is a SQI or crazy over upped something, I'm going to dig much further.
There are going to be things I cannot recover. I'm considering making a nice visual aid for everyone so they can see how the recovery is progressing.

You mean if you got them from the old website or if it came from the Auro Shop? Yes. There is a special tag that will show it was generated from these types of items. If the item was spawned the item log is tagged with GM Created.

I wouldn't say I'm half done with item logs, but I have completed one GM's item logs. So I know who got what, but I haven't removed anything yet. I'm hoping to finish Merkel's by the end of the week. No promises, his logs are a mess.

I dont envy that job either, item logs, at least for RO, were messy if not kept organized.

I feel like I should have my own blog or something. I was making a status update that turned into a pseudo-post, but not worth of an ANNOUNCEMENT post. Maybe a discussion? Forums make my head hurt.

Anyone that has received any "Merkel Gear" will notice a huge hole in their inventory when they log back in.
