Advent Calendar: Day 5

Good morning my little Jellybeans~ Lets open up the Day 5 slot of our calendar and see what we get. Oh? Today is a scavenger hunt. Though this would be fairly easy for some. Barely an issue. Though unfortunately because this has to be a set in stone sort of thing, you won't be able to just find whatever. 

You will need the to know the word and position of the items that you must gather, so 4w6l  means 4th word 6th letter in the description. So for example lets say the item was Red Potion, and your clue was 6w3l  that would be o.  The reason is because the entire description is. "A potion which restores HP about 45, made from ground red herbs."  and the 6th word is about and the 3rd letter is o. Clues with (#) are telling you the position of the letter in the code.  Do keep in mind that some description have numbers and some words are tied together with hyphens making them 1 word, so pay attention to that. 

 

• A little bug near Prontera, drops this stone like object.  4W2L (1);  9W4L (9) 
• In Payon dungeon not far within, is a man with no skin. Find his weapon that he carries.  3W1L (2); 3W2L (3)
• Near Alberta I speak only truth, is a crazy creature. Find the item they love to eat.  5W1L (6); 7W3L (4)
• Geffen's tower is tall it seems, but beneath is dungeon of myth and dream. 2 floors downs is all I ask, before you nightmares come to past. Find the item that drops all the time.  1W1L (5); 14W6L (7)
• In the Desert town of swift and sand, just to the east of once forsaken land, find the creature that populates the most. This task might be hard but at least it's close. You want their card. 4W1L (8); 8W1L (10)

 

Remember if you don't have to get the card in the last clue per say, you just need to figure out which monster and know what card it would be...this is also a group project, so feel free to post your findings here for others.

I would very much love it if you guys posted in here so I everyone can benefit. So I'll compile the information you all have gathered, so everyone can benefit. You may consider these additional clues, if you like. 

 

Q:  does the code contains an apostrophe?

A:  Initially no, I didn't consider punctuation should be part of the word. But I did acknowledge that hyphens do make 2 words as one word. So just skip the apostrophe for now. Maybe in future I should include it in the letter count. 

 

Q: [insert list of monsters] are these correct?

A:  There have been many wondering about this. So the following list is about 75% of you got, that is correct. 

1. Thief Bug
2. Skeleton
3. Lunatic
4. Nightmare

I think 1 to 3 person got the last one right but got the other monsters wrong. So out of majority this is the list of the ones you got correct. (well done you.)

A: Yes it is. Take a look at my instructions again.

If it were uppercase for every puzzle, I would have done a big capital O instead of a lowercase. I did this twice to make sure that it was clear 😕

A: Yes, I was thinking Morocc was another beginner town, and just east would be moc_fild10. 
 

Hopefully this helps light some lightbulbs. I am very impressed at how far you all got. I really wish this was the weekly gm scavenger hunt, I like a lot of the answers you had for the items, and your reasonings, but sadly codes need to be set in stone v_v

So I suppose you all are wondering what the results were and how you were to solve this. 

 

The Solution was : hanrUGs2iF

 

So lets go through the clues. 

• A little bug near Prontera, drops this stone like object.  4W2L (1);  9W4L (9) 

This was a Thief bug, the stone like object they drop is an iron ore.

"An impure ore which forms iron after being refined."

 

4th word is which  2nd letter "h"  this is to go into the 1st slot. 

9th word is refined 4l is "i" this goes into the 9th slot.

This was a skeleton. The weapon they carry is of course a bone like object which is Skel-Bone

3w is an 1st letter is an "a" this goes into the 2nd slot

3w is still an 2nd letter is an "n" this goes into the 3rd slot.

• Near Alberta I speak only truth, is a crazy creature. Find the item they love to eat.  5W1L (6); 7W3L (4)

outside of Alberta there are porings, willow, pupa, lunatic, red mushrooms, and green plants.  Out of all these monsters. Lunatic is another way of calling someone crazy.  so that's our monster.

 

The item they like to eat is Rainbow Carrots, I did like that some people thought carrot juice since the pet, but those would be tamed lunatics, and not found just outside of Alberta.

Due to our further instructions with "some words are tied together with hyphens making them 1 word" we know that nice-smelling, and rainbow-colored  are considered 1 word instead of two. 

So 5th word is Great  1st letter is "G"  and this goes into our 6th slot 

the 7th word is for 3rd letter is "r" and this goes in our 4th slot

This was probably the easiest that everyone got. The monster was Nightmare, it was very clear in the clue. and no matter how many you kill you will always get a Horseshoe.

1st word is U-shaped 1st letter "U"  this goes into the 5th slot

14th word is horse's 6th letter is "s" this goes in the 7th sloth. I do understand why some of you thought the ' would have been valid, this is why we clarified in the 'additional clues' section.

This is the one that most of you struggled with. The main issue is that there wasn't a lot of you working together to clear the map. But here are the numbers. 

 

Drops, 30

Peco Peco Egg, 70

Picky, 50

Pecku, 50

Magnolia 1

Ant Egg, 10

Yellow plant, 10

Green Plant, 5

 

The tricky part of this is eggs hatch.  But you wouldn't consider ant eggs as ants in ant hell. So, this is the monster we're going with. It's card reads the following.

 

"Enable to do 20% more damage on Formless Monsters."

Weight : 1"

 

Once again.

Do keep in mind that some description have numbers and some words are tied together with hyphens making them 1 word

 

So 4th word is 20% 1st letter is 2 this goes into 8th slot

8th worst is Formless 1st letter is F this goes into our 10th slot

I will state that I liked a lot of your answers and reasoning why certain monsters fit, and certain items worked. If this was the weekly GM event variant I would have accepted them, but codes required a single answer. These were the ones I had in mind at the time of making the puzzle.
